I needed a break from the slog of scenery, and 55053 popping into the station yard at Culrain provided an opportune diversion.
In spring, or early summer, of 1955 this newly overhauled and fully lined ex-HR tank left St Rollox for Helmsdale and the Dornoch branch. What would be more natural than a break to catch its breath at Culrain before the climb up to Lairg?
Paul Bambrick of Bambrick Studios gave Kyle of Sutherland a nice mention on his website in “Latest News” April 22nd 2015 (thanks, Paul). See http://bambrickstudio.co.uk/latest/
