April progress

I needed a break from the slog of scenery, and 55053 popping into the station yard at Culrain provided an opportune diversion.

In spring, or early summer, of 1955 this newly overhauled and fully lined ex-HR tank left St Rollox for Helmsdale and the Dornoch branch. What would be more natural than a break to catch its breath at Culrain before the climb up to Lairg?

This month I’m determined to try and finish the fencing on Kyle of Sutherland. It’s mainly around Station Cottage and alongside the road up to the bridge. Here goes!
