October progress

Posted on November 1, 2014. Filed under: Monthly progress |

By the middle of the month the down platform fence was ready to install. I followed the technique described by a local Pendon modeller (thanks, Nick) and mounted the fences on thick card, to fit into slots in the egg-box scenery.

The way was then clear to prepare for the Missenden Railway Modellers Weekend at the end of October and concentrate on a small batch of trees and hedges to test out the modelling materials and techniques I’ve been planning to use for Kyle of Sutherland.

I’ve built up quite a collection of tree photographs, on which to base my modelling. And before going to Missenden, I photographed hedgerow shrubs and saplings. I want to model open-style hedges for my Highland layout, and avoid using scouring pads covered in foliage mat, which look to me more like Devon banks.

I wonder if November will be good for planting?
